10:38:16 <Industrial> Hi.
10:39:09 <Industrial> How do I efficiently upgrade trains to better locomotives? I find that as I upgrade and start to use newer (Diesel) enignes, the faster trains stop much more and the lines get congested.
10:39:38 <Industrial> Wish I could just replace a whole groups' locomotives at once :p
10:43:22 <Eddi|zuHause> Industrial: in the train list, there is a "manage list" dropdown, where you can set up autoreplace
10:44:55 <NGC3982> Industrial: and in addition to what Eddi|zuHause say, you will also need to cope with trains of "mixed speeds" using the same local railway system. you might want to updrage your systems to better support train meetings/drive-by's before using the autoreplace function
10:45:06 <NGC3982> if you run out of money during the autoreplacing, for instance.
10:45:34 <Industrial> right
10:47:57 <NGC3982> Industrial: you can use http://wiki.openttd.org/Autoreplace for entries on the autoreplace process, and http://wiki.openttd.org/Rail_Designs to cope with slow and fast trains on the same local systems.

11:03:18 <NGC3982> i would suggest removing some exit signaling.
11:05:15 <Industrial> no it's my own :P
11:06:15 <Industrial> I figured if I put one signal at the exit station after the tracks that combine the station tracks to put the light on green faster for the other trains waiting to exit ..

11:38:05 <Eddi|zuHause> Industrial: that is true, but it is also easier to lock up when the line is congested. if you worry about througput, make the exit doubletracked until the next signal, so an entire train fits between the end of the junction and the signal, then merge the lines
11:39:34 <Eddi|zuHause> Industrial: the point is that a train waiting at the exit signal will block trains going into the opposite direction
11:44:59 <NGC3982> its easy to think that more signals will make more line security
11:45:07 <NGC3982> when it (sometimes) means the opposite
11:45:09 <NGC3982> i guess

21:52:17 <Zuu> hello planetmaker
21:52:25 <Zuu> I'm off to sleep
21:52:34 <planetmaker> hm ok :-) sleep well
21:53:04 <planetmaker> my question was: would a special plural form (analog to gender) make sense for Swedish
21:53:57 <planetmaker> and I read you had some reservations about the naming
22:02:14 <Zuu> Yes, the proposed naming uses possible more academically correct wordings, but I had to use google to figure out what they ment. An alternative is to use perhaps formally incorect but easier terms. Eg the two different words that are used for "a/an" in Swedish that is the consequence of the proposed genders.
22:02:52 <Zuu> Instead of utrum/neutrum it could say en/ett in WT
22:03:44 <Zuu> But its probably good to either involv tt-forums or the translator who proposed utrum/neutrum before going for my alternative suggestion.
22:04:12 <Zuu> Night

22:39:08 <Mister_Argent> oh god the android port of OpenTTD is wierd
22:43:17 <Mister_Argent> why is there no way to use the mouse emulator that's not awkward
22:43:27 <Mister_Argent> why is there no "Move the cursor where the screen is touched" mode
22:44:58 <Rubidium> Mister_Argent: ask the person that did the port; hint, (s)he hasn't annouced him/herself here yet
22:45:04 <Mister_Argent> ah.
22:45:23 <Mister_Argent> i was imagining it'd be a proper port, but it appears to be a hasty SDL job like the Android version of Ur-Quan Masters
22:45:46 <Mister_Argent> see, i could see a proper port of OpenTTD working really well on Android tablets
22:47:59 <Mister_Argent> Using just the mouse plus some keyboard stuff, it seems like it'd be fairly simple to adapt to touch
