15:38:52 <Alkel_U3> Hello
15:39:04 <planetmaker> hi
15:39:45 <Alkel_U3> I'd like to ask about making plurals in the web translator, this is the right place, right?
15:45:35 <Alkel_U3> While translating FIRS to Czech, I need to have "pytel" for 1 item, "pytle" for 2-4 and "pytlů" for anything higher. The example in the docs only presents variants for English and it's not clear to me what I should do with this. Is this handled by the language processor in NML so I just write all the possible endings in succession or do I need to specify the numbers of items
15:45:37 <Alkel_U3> somehow?
15:46:00 <Alkel_U3> (pytel - a bag)
15:54:59 <planetmaker> I usually would recommend #openttd for that - there's more people. However...
15:55:37 <planetmaker> ... the syntax is in the docs:
15:56:16 <planetmaker>
15:56:30 <planetmaker> namely:
15:57:38 <planetmaker> There {is are} {num} car{P 0 "" s} in the queue
15:57:50 <planetmaker> There {P is are} {num} car{P 0 "" s} in the queue
15:58:45  <planetmaker> so yes, you list the different plural forms one after the other in the { ... }
15:59:02 <planetmaker> but you need to list all which czech language has
16:00:58 <planetmaker> seems that czech needs 10 plural forms
16:01:04 <Alkel_U3> thanks, I have already looked at that, I just don't understand it clearly so I came to ask for clarification. So I guess I'll have to have a look at the NML docs for CZ forms for that?
16:01:35 <planetmaker> yes...
16:03:13 <Alkel_U3> ok, I'll try to gather more information there, then. Thanks for the advice
16:17:38 <planetmaker> might be of some help, too. But it's possibly not exactly up2date
16:19:42 <planetmaker> oh! I understood it wrongly. It's plural *type* 10.
16:20:07 <planetmaker>
16:20:13 <planetmaker> So Czech has 3 forms
16:54:09 <DevZone> Project FIRS Industry Replacement Set build #1145-push: SUCCESS in 6 min 2 sec:
17:07:36 <Alkel_U3> ah, ok. That makes more sense. I wondered where that 10 came from :-)
17:10:23 <Alkel_U3> ok, now it's clear to me, thanks for the help
17:13:12 <planetmaker> np. happy to help

18:01:50 <frosch123> Alkel_U3: when you edit a string in eints, there is a plural short help below the entry boxes
18:03:01 <frosch123> it says "Plural syntax: {P ....}" with "...." being specific to your language
18:15:54 <DevZone> Project Building sprite test project build #189-nightlies: SUCCESS in 52 sec:
18:26:20 <Alkel_U3> frosch123: thanks, also usefull to know

19:03:56 <Alkel_U3> frosch123: I didn't get that help to show up. Is it supposed to be there now?
19:08:01 <frosch123> hmm, it's broken for czech
19:08:05 <frosch123> it works for other languages :o
19:10:56 <frosch123> <- that's what slovak looks like
19:10:58 <DevZone> Project yeti build #186-push: SUCCESS in 2 hr 23 min:
19:11:01 <frosch123> it has the same plural form
19:11:08 <Alkel_U3> also it doesn't let me submit it, giving me "Error: {P ..} cannot be used without defining the plural type with ##plural"
19:11:35 <frosch123> yep, that's the problem
19:11:46 <frosch123> the ##plural is missing somehow
19:14:25 <Alkel_U3> so I guess I'll just have to wait for that to get fixed
19:15:06 <frosch123> Alkel_U3: does it work for the "citybuilder gs" project?
19:16:39 <Alkel_U3> frosch123: yeah, that looks different
19:16:53 <frosch123> i have the suspicion it is broken for projects, which had a czech translation before eints was a thing
